2. Website access, hosting and server log files
When this website is accessed, the hosting provider processes technically necessary access data, in particular the IP address, date and time of access, requested file, referrer, browser type and operating system. The processing is carried out to provide the website, ensure IT security and analyse technical faults on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in the secure and stable operation of the website.
3. Webfonts and technical third-party content
The website currently does not load webfonts from external third-party servers. Fonts and other design resources required for the normal page view are served locally or rendered via resources already available in the browser. Accordingly, under the current configuration, the ordinary page view does not trigger any additional transfer of personal data to external font providers.
4. Contact by telephone or email
If you contact us by telephone or email, your information will be processed for handling your enquiry, preparing a possible instruction and conducting further correspondence. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the processing relates to the initiation or performance of a contract or instruction, otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Please note that unencrypted email is generally not a secure transfer route for confidential medical material. For highly sensitive documents, an appropriate transmission route should be agreed in advance.
5. Contact form
Via the contact form we process, in particular, the name, institution, commissioning party type, email address, telephone number, reference details, the core question, an optional anonymised case summary, deadline information, optional notes and, where applicable, uploaded files. Required fields are necessary in order to process the enquiry; without them the enquiry cannot be handled meaningfully.
The processing is carried out for handling your contact request and preparing a possible instruction on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) GDPR and/or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The form is transmitted server-side via the web host and the email/SMTP service provider used within the hosting package.
6. Special categories of personal data
In the field of human genetics expert work, health data and genetic data may be involved. For an initial enquiry, full patient-identifying information is usually not required; an anonymised description is often sufficient for first review.
To the extent that you voluntarily transmit health data, genetic data or other special categories of personal data via the contact form, such processing is based on your explicit consent pursuant to Article 9(2)(a) GDPR in conjunction with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
7. Recipients and categories of recipients
Recipients of personal data may include the hosting provider, the email/SMTP service provider used for form transmission and, where necessary, technical service providers involved in operating the website or handling your enquiry. Data is disclosed to other third parties only where a legal basis exists or you have given consent.
Under the current configuration of the website, ordinary informational use does not involve any planned transfer to optional analytics or third-party font providers. If you click external links, for example to LinkedIn, ORCID or university websites, you leave this website and the privacy information of the respective provider applies.
8. Local storage and consent management
No optional analytics or tracking services are currently configured as active on the website. For that reason, no consent banner for optional tracking services is displayed during the ordinary page view at present.
If optional analytics services are introduced in the future, a consent management mechanism will be used. In that case, a technically necessary item may be stored in your browser's local storage in order to document your choice and respect it on subsequent visits. The legal basis would then be Article 6(1)(c) and/or (f) GDPR in conjunction with the data protection requirements for respecting your selection.
9. Storage period
Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary for the stated purposes or as required by statutory retention obligations. Contact and enquiry data is deleted once handling has been completed and no legal, contractual or legitimate reasons require further storage.
10. Your rights
Subject to Articles 15 to 21 GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Where processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future.
11. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data is unlawful.
12. No automated decision-making
No automated decision-making, including profiling within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR, takes place via this website.
